What is an HMO Plan?

  • HMO stands for House of Multiple Occupancy, more commonly known as a ‘house share’.
     

  • Like a marketing plan, an HMO Plan will show the general layout of the property including the position of the doors, windows, kitchen appliances and bathroom fittings.
     

  • Unlike a marketing plan, an HMO Plan will also show the location of any fire safety features, such as smoke alarms, fire extinguishers and fire blankets.

How does it work?

  • If you require an HMO Plan, one of our surveyors will need to visit your property to take accurate measurements.
     

  • Typically, we will require 30 minutes on site with access to every room.
     

  • You will receive your finished HMO Plan via email within 24 hours of the site visit.

Why do I need an HMO Plan?

  • If you are a landlord applying for an HMO licence with your local authority, you will need to submit an HMO Plan as part of your application.
